Annual meeting of the Association for School and Children’s Books in Madagascar

On 15th July 2011, the Association for School and Children’s Books in Madagascar held its Annual Meeting in Baden-Baden, Germany. The chairman, Dr. Klaus-Christian Küspert and the treasurer, Ms. Marion Irene Kienzler, informed the members that the number of members is slowly increasing, that the financial situation is balanced and that there are good administrative routines. During the financial year 2010/2011, 12 000 Euro could be transferred to Madagascar. This means that 100% of last year’s donations were sent to the partner, Vakoka Vakiteny.

According to the statutes, the election of a new Board and new Auditors had to be accomplished. The new Board members are:

Dr. Klaus-Christian Küspert, chairperson

Ms. Christel Schelshorn, deputy chairperson

Ms. Marion Irene Kienzler, treasurer

Mr. Hans-Christian Küspert, secretary

The following people were elected as auditors:

Ms. Wiebke Matthei

Ms. Renate Maindok

That there are new people who are willing to be engaged in the work of the association, can be taken as a positive signal and indicates a growing interest in the association’s work.  Thanks to all former Board members and auditors for their engagement and good luck to the new ones.

It was decided that the membership fee of 20 € will remain unchanged for the coming year. There will not be any change in the strategy of the association, and all members are encouraged to continue with recruiting new members and with gathering support for the work of Vakoka Vakiteny. A particular effort for the coming year will be the achievement of contacts with other publishers and the enhancement of the publicity activities e.g. by writing articles about Vakoka Vakiteny and an active use of internet pages.

After the formal meeting, Sophie and Mparany informed an extended audience about their impressing list of activities and results during the last year and about their plans for the coming year. They encouraged all who are interested in their work to follow the blog and the quarterly newsletters.
